Common Law is law which has grown and developed. It has grown from the judgements which have been made over the centuries.
It is Common Law, on the whole, which governs the legal aspects of, for example, contracts or negligence, and of most of our dealings with each other.
However, if there is a conflict between Common Law and Statute Law, it is Statute Law which takes precedence: Parliament is Sovereign.
