Predisposing factors
A pathological bereavement is more likely if:
- the death was:
- Sudden
- Avoidable( in the eyes of the survivor)
- Unexplainable
- the relationship was:
- ambivalent
- produces excessive pining
- dependent
- may produce excessive guilt
- ambivalent
- the bereaved has a:
- mental illness
- personality problem
- previous bereavement
