Examination
The general inspection of the patient should detect signs of uraemia such as scratch marks, seizures or vomiting.
Specific examination of the urological system should include:
- palpation and percussion of an enlarged bladder
- detection of palpable hydronephrosis
- digital rectal examination:
- may detect a hard prostatic carcinoma
- may detect a tender, boggy, infected prostate
