  • thiazide/thiazide-like diuretics are particularly effective at lowering BP in older people, as are dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers

  • most people will require more than one BP-lowering drug to control their BP and logical combinations are outlined in the A/CD algorithm (see linked item)
