Inactivation
Kininase enzymes break down kinins. There are two:
- kininase I:
- a serum carboxypeptidase with low affinity
- it also inactivates complement components C3a, C5a and C4a
- kininase II:
- an alternative term for angiotensin converting enzyme
- predominantly found in the endothelium of the lung
