There are four non-atherosclerotic lesions which can cause ischaemic heart disease:

  • emboli to the coronary arteries
  • arteritis (e.g. Takayasu's, Kawasaki's, lupus erythematosus and polyarteritis nodosa)
  • cocaine abuse
  • trauma
