Risk factors for cholesterol emboli syndrome include:
- age:
- usually occuring in those over 50 yr
- usually occuring in those over 50 yr
- males are more frequently affected than females
- Caucasians are more frequently affected than blacks
- hypertension
- aortic aneurysm
- diabetes
- precipitating events include:
- vascular surgery, including CABG
- angiography
- thrombolysis
- anticoagulation
