Diagnosis of chronic paronychia should include:

  • physical examination of the nail fold
  • patient history - regarding the profession (who comes into regular contact with water, soap, detergent or other chemicals), use of systemic drugs e.g. - retinoids, antiretroviral agents (indinavir), anti-EGFR antibodies (Cetuximab) (1)
