These babies need urgent laboratory estimation of blood glucose and increased frequency of feeds.
The BM stix measurement should be repeated after one or two hours and tube feeding or intravenous dextrose considered if the infant falls into a high risk category - ie an infant with good reason to be hypoglycaemic.
