  • transient hyperthyroxinaemic states:
    • acute medical / psychiatric conditions
    • high altitude exposure
  • drugs - amiodarone, amphetamines, iodinated radiocontrast dyes, propylthiouracil, glucocorticoids
  • foetus and neonate
