Bacterial pharyngitis may lead to the development of peritonsillar or parapharyngeal abscess. (1)
Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome is a very rare but life-threatening condition characterised by rapidly progressing multiple organ failure and shock associated with an exaggerated inflammatory reaction to streptococcal antigens. (2)
