Common side-effects of cisapride include:

  • abdominal cramps
  • borborygmi
  • increased stool frequency
  • diarrhoea
  • headaches
  • lightheadednesss

Rarely:

  • convulsions
  • extrapyramidal side effects
  • urinary frequency
  • deranged LFT's
  • arrhythmias: QT prolongation, ventricular arrhythmias, torsades de pointes; especially when cisapride levels are elevated or in the presence of existing QT prolongation
