Clinical features
Initially in parotitis, there is pain or tenderness at the angle of the jaw.
Later, there is high fever and leukocytosis with swelling and redness in the parotid area. The parotid gland feels firm.
There may be a purulent discharge from the duct, and occasionally, there is suppuration.
