Chronic infective rhinitis
This may be subdivided into:
- chronic infection with a specific organism, for example:
- bacteria e.g. Haemophilus influenzae
- fungi e.g. Aspergillus, Candida, Cryptococcus
- tuberculosis
- syphilis
- Yaws
- atrophic rhinitis - either as a result of chronic infection with a specific organism, or due to overzealous surgery
- immune deficiency:
- primary e.g. Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, ataxia telangiectasia, selective IgA or IgG deficiency
- secondary e.g. from immunosuppressant therapy, AIDS
- muciliary clearance abnormality
