  • glossitis
  • rashes
  • erythema multiforme - including Stevens-Johnson syndrome
  • epidermal necrolysis
  • nausea and vomiting
  • haematological effects due to trimethoprim;
    • eosinophilia
    • agranulocytosis
    • granulocytopenia
    • megaloblastic anaemia
    • purpura
    • leucopenia

The risk of developing erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis was 1.7/100,000 users of co-trimoxazole (95% CI 0.7, 4.4) and 0.8/100,000 users of trimethoprim (95% CI 0.2,2.7).
