Intraarterial thrombolytic therapy

Local intraarterial thrombolysis via a microcatheter placed into, beyond and proximal to an arterial occlusion has been examined in two randomised trials. Agents used have been urokinase, t-PA and prourokinase.

Approximately 40% of patients have complete recanalisation and 35% have partial recanalisation.
