Endoscopic sclerotherapy
Endoscopic sclerotherapy is presently finding a niche:
- controlling acute variceal bleeding
- preventing recurrent variceal bleeding
- managing bleeds from other lesions, e.g. gastric ulcers
It must be remembered that in each of these situations, endoscopic sclerotherapy is only one part of overall management. For example, recurrent variceal bleeds may also be treated with portal-systemic shunts.
