Pharmacotherapy for oesophageal variceal bleeding
There are three classes of pharmacological intervention which are used in the management of bleeding oesophageal varices:
- vasoconstrictor therapy
- constrictors of the lower oesophageal sphincter
- prevention of acute hepatic encephalopathy
- long-term drug therapy
