Drug interactions
- symptoms of neurotoxicity:
- headache, nausea, dizziness, ataxia, diplopia
- reported when lamotrigine is added to carbamazepine
- symptoms resolve when the dose of either drug is reduced
- sodium valproate:
- inhibits the elimination of lamotrigine
- inhibits the elimination of lamotrigine
- enzyme-inducing anticonvulsants:
- carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbitone, primidone
- reduce the half-life of lamotrigine to around 15 hours
