Management
Surgery is indicated in the following circumstances:
- failure to respond to blood transfusion
- massive haematuria
- expanding loin mass
- peritonitis
In the absence of these features a conservative approach of careful observation is preferred. Best-rest is prescribed until the patient returns to normal.
Surgical intervention usually results in partial or total nephrectomy.
