Diagnosis and problem-solving
To make a diagnosis:
- generate a working diagnosis or identify the problem
- look for discriminating physical signs to help confirm or refute the working diagnosis
- interpret the information obtained from patient records, history, examination and investigations
- apply the basic, behavioural and clinical sciences to identifying, solving and managing the patient's problems
- bear in mind one's own limits of competence and act appropriately
