Preparations and dosing
The preparations of terbutaline, and the adult doses, are given below:
- oral:
- dose 2.5-5.0 mg three times daily
- dose 2.5-5.0 mg three times daily
- subcutaneous, intramuscular or slow intravenous:
- 250-500 micrograms up to 4 times per day
- 250-500 micrograms up to 4 times per day
- continuous intravenous injection:
- 1.5-5.0 micrograms/min for up to 8 hours
- 1.5-5.0 micrograms/min for up to 8 hours
- meter dose inhaler or dry powder inhaler:
- 250-500 micrograms (1-2 puffs) up to 4 times per day
- 250-500 micrograms (1-2 puffs) up to 4 times per day
- nebulizer:
- 5-10 mg up to 4 times per day
