Irregular menstrual bleeding

Authoring team

This term signifies irregular menstrual cycles. A woman may complain of frequent or infrequent periods (oligomenorrhoea).

Frequent periods are often the result of anovulatory menstrual cycles. It may be difficult for a woman complaining of frequent periods to discriminate menstrual and intermenstrual loss.
