Causes of postoperative nausea and vomiting include:
- intestinal obstruction:
- paralytic ileus
- mechanical obstruction
- drugs:
- anaesthetic agents
- analgesia, especially opiates
- other drug therapy, e.g. digoxin toxicity, cytotoxics
