  • appendicitis
  • urinary tract infection
  • endometriosis
  • rupture, torsion or haemorrhage into an ovarian cyst
  • ectopic pregnancy
  • spontaneous abortion
  • pelvic adhesions
  • irritable bowel syndrome and on rare occasions other gastrointestinal disorders
  • functional pain - pain of unknown physical origin
