Based upon the French, American and British co-operative group - FAB. Types are:

  • L1 - small; scanty cytoplasm; uniform appearance
  • L2 - large; more cytoplasm; heterogenous in size, shape
  • L3 - large; moderately abundant basophilic cytoplasm; cytoplasmic vacuolation; cells similar to those in Burkitt's lymphoma
