Pathway interactions
The intrinsic and extrinsic pathways are not independent of each other. Factor IXa and XIIa in the intrinsic pathway activate factor VII in the extrinsic pathway. The common pathway also modulates the two earlier pathways e.g. factor IIa activates factor VIII.
