Borrelial lymphocytoma

  • a rare skin manifestation of Lyme disease
    • characterized by a painless bluish-red nodule
    • predominantly seen in children
  • typical sites of borrelial lymphocytoma are:
    • localized on the ear lobe,
    • nipple, or
    • scrotum
  • usually there is a preceding or concomitant erythema migrans
  • antibiotic therapy generally leads to resolution within several weeks
