Acute uncomplicated cystitis in a young women
Organism:
- usually E.coli.
- others include klebsiella species, S. saprophyticus.
Clinical features:
- usually pyuria
- haematuria sometimes
- an abrupt onset with multiple, severe symptoms (dysuria, urgency and increased frequency), lower back or suprapubic pain; on examination there may be suprapubic tenderness
Urine:
- 10^2 to greater than or equal to 10^5 colony forming units per milimetre
