Fourniere's Gangrene may be associated with a number of conditions. A common strand appears to be that of immune dysfunction:
- diabetes mellitus
- cirrhosis
- malignancy
- alcoholism
- intravenous drug abuse
- high dose steroid treatment
- cytotoxic chemotherapy
- vascular disease
- morbid obesity
