Intervention studies
There are few intervention studies into the consequences of H. pylori eradication on the incidence of gastric carcinoma.
A Japanese study of 132 H. pylori positive patients undergoing endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer compared the rates of recurrent gastric cancer in patients with or without H. pylori eradication:
- 9% without eradication had recurrent cancer
- 0% with eradication had recurrent cancer (p=0.01)
