Icaridin (Picaridin) for mosquito bite prevention

Icaridin (KBR3023) (1piperidinecarboxylic acid, 2-(2hydroxyethyl)-,1-methyl-propylester) has repellent properties comparable to those of DEET with a comparable duration of protection when both are used at 20 %.

Icaridin is available in various concentrations.

If a traveller elects to use icaridin for mosquito bite prevention, use of at least a 20% preparation advised (1).
