  • bronchiolar spasm
  • bronchorrhoea
  • cast formation with air-trapping distally
  • emphysematous alveolar injury
  • alveolar collapse
  • alveolar vessel shunting
  • secondary bacterial pneumonia
  • pulmonary oedema
  • adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
  • decreased gas exchange
