the inhalator consists of a mouthpiece and a replaceable nicotine cartridge
the inhalator is sucked and the nicotine vapour is drawn into the mouth. The nicotine is absorbed throught the buccal mucosa - there is little or none of the nicotine vapour that reaches the lungs
the maximum level of nicotine dose is achieved after approximately 20 minutes of intense use - each cartridge can be used for up to three twenty-minute sessions
6-12 cartridges are used per day for 8 weeks then the dose is tapered down to zero over the following 4 week period
possible side effects specific to the inhalator include irritation of the throat and cough (1)
