Brachioradialis muscle (anatomy)
Brachioradialis is one of the muscles of the forearm. In the anatomical position, it rests at the margin of flexor and extensor compartments.
It originates from the:
- superior two thirds of the lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus
- lateral intermuscular septum
It passes distally over the elbow joint to insert into the proximal part of the styloid process of the radius
It acts to:
- flex the forearm at the elbow
- pronate the forearm to the midprone position
Brachioradialis is innervated by the radial nerve (C5-7).
