Most paedophiles become known when they are in middle age, but there is no evidence to suggest that there desire for sexual relationships with prepubertal children is a change in their sexual makeup. It appears that paedophiles have always had sexual desires towards children.

Two thirds of children involved in paedophilia have co- operated in sexual activity more than once. This is out of fear rather than interest.
