Aetiology
The commonest causes of malabsorption in developed countries are:
- mucosal injury secondary to gastroenteritis (post-enteritis syndrome with secondary disaccharide malabsorption).
- cow's milk protein intolerance
- giardiasis
- coeliac disease
- cystic fibrosis
