Ocular defects in albinism
Albinos have anatomically abnormal visual pathways:
- fibres from the temporal half of the retina decussate in the optic chiasm
- the lateral geniculate nuclei are histologically abnormal
The result is an absence of binocular vision with normal visual fields.
