Local spread
The local spread of breast carcinoma occurs by three main mechanisms:
- infiltration of surrounding tissue - direct extension:
- main route of local spread
- may extend superficially to skin or deep to pectoralis fascia
- spread along ducts
- local lymphatic dissemination
- local vascular dissemination
