Eyelids

The position of the eyelids is compared.

Drooping of the eyelid is termed ptosis; causes include IIIrd nerve palsy, Horner's syndrome, myasthenia gravis etc.

Excessive retraction of the lid may be caused by a retro-orbital tumour or thyroid eye disease.

Inflammation, infection and swelling of the eyelids should be noted.
