Aetiology
- idiopathic:
- most common
- approximately half are familial
- severe hypermetropia:
- squint is a result of excessive reflex convergence secondary to excessive accomodation for near vision
- squint is a result of excessive reflex convergence secondary to excessive accomodation for near vision
- severe myopia:
- there may be an associated divergent squint
- there may be an associated divergent squint
- blindness in one eye
- brain damage
- a unilateral refractive error
