Characteristics suggesting underlying pathology
There are four characteristics which suggest that a child with bow legs or knock knee has an underlying pathology:
- an inter-malleolar distance of greater than 10 cm
- a family history of skeletal abnormality
- asymmetry of the knees
- abnormally short stature
