Treatment
Treatment can be considered in terms of prevention and subsequent management:
Prevention:
- avoiding preterm delivery where possible
- careful control of diabetes in pregnancy
- administration of dexamethasone to mothers before preterm deliveries
- avoidance of hypothermia after delivery
Management:
- ventilation
- surfactant
