Pulmonary interstitial emphysema

Pulmonary interstitial emphysema is a disease of immature lung characterised by gas in the perivascular sheath of the lung. It is the immature correlate of pneumothorax in the more mature lung.

It is associated in the long term with a higher incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
