Chlorpropamide

Chlorpropamide is an oral hypoglycaemic. It has a very long duration of action and hypoglycaemia is relatively common. Its use is contraindicated in renal impairment.

This drug may cause facial flushing when taking it with alcohol in about 1/3 of patients. This reaction is rare with other sulphonylureas.
