Seizures and zyban (R)

Authoring team

  • since the UK license was granted for Zyban in June 2000, an estimated 360,000 patients received it up to 28th February 2001. During this period, there were 113 reports of seizures (about half of these occurred in patients who already had a history of seizures or were at risk of them) (1)

  • note that Zyban is contra-indicated in people with a previous or current seizure disorder, and should be administered with extreme caution in those with predisposing factors for seizure
