Posterior landmarks
For examination of the posterior bony landmarks of the hip, the patient is placed onto each side in turn. The hip to be examined is uppermost and the patient is asked to flex this joint. A suggested sequence of examination is described in the submenu:
- posterior superior iliac spines
- greater trochanter
- ischial tuberosity
