Cutaneous lymph drainage (breast)
There are four main routes for lymphatic drainage of the skin of the breast:
- laterally: to the anterior axillary nodes
- medially:
- to the internal thoracic nodes
- to the cutaneous nodes of the contralateral breast
- superiorly:
- to the apical axillary nodes
- to the medial axillary nodes
- inferiorly:
- to the cutaneous lymphatics of the superior abdominal wall
- to the liver
