Glycogen storage diseases
The main sites of glycogen synthesis are in the liver and muscle. Glycogen storage diseases result in:
- an abnormal structured glycogen, or
- an increased concentration of glycogen
They are all autosomal recessive in inheritance, and all, except McArdle's, present in infancy.
