Peripheral embolic disease of the gut
Acute ischaemia of the gut is characterised by:
- severe abdominal pain
- vomiting
- possibly, passage of blood per rectum
- sign of peritonitis and obstruction
The patient deteriorates rapidly.
Diagnosis is confirmed at laparotomy.
